The thinking.
Turn a dated reference book into a nationwide presentation system that helped customers understand their options and choose lenses with confidence.
The challenge
Buying lenses meant sorting through unfamiliar materials, coatings, prescriptions, and technical language. Customers needed enough information to choose what fit their lives without paying for features they did not need. Associates needed a clear, consistent way to explain it all without making the customer feel talked at.
My contribution
A copywriter developed the information, and I transformed it into a guided presentation. I designed the page system, color-coded the sections, and used diagrams and charts to make complex optical concepts easier to follow. Every page was identical on both sides, keeping the associate and customer on the same page throughout the conversation. I also sourced the custom folding binder, developed working mock-ups, found the foam solution for the removable lens demonstrations, coordinated the vendors, and carried the final build into production.
The point of view
Good information design does more than make complexity look simple. It creates trust, invites better questions, and gives people the confidence to make a decision that is right for them.
The making.
The system, the applications,
and the details that connect them.
What it made
possible.
The launch was a success. Five hundred custom-built books were produced for retail desks across the country, giving every store a clear, consistent, and hands-on way to guide the lens conversation.
A brand to build. A story to tell.
A problem worth solving.
